South Africans getting together

Recommended Posts

Guest Laura

Hello everyone.

I didn't think that many South Africans would be living in Montreal since it is mostly French Speaking but I just found this site and I guess that there are some. So my question is: Do you ever get together? Is there a SA community in Montreal??? If yes how can I join? If not: should we plan a get together?

Thanks!

Hi Laura,

I live near Québec City and I know some South Africans in Montreal, but I don't know if there is a club or what. I can find out about it.

Welkom by SACanada Steven!

Is julle regtiig opsoek na sa geselskap in montreal. kontak my

groete steven

My name is Steven or also known as katools on the forum( dont worry, it's just a clever name). I am doing my best to orcastrate a SA get together, but has received little feedback, if you are interested in forming a little sa sociaty here in montreal, please let me know, for I am free all day and would like to interact with fellow sans. I will arrange a place and date for all interested, all I need to know is when and where is most applicable. Please respond and maybe we'll see each other soon.

Hi Guys

My name is Alison, been in Montreal about 18 months, living in St-Hubert (on south shore). I would love to meet other South Africans living around here - didn`t realise there were so many of us!

Not working (not "legal" yet!) so available any time. Call me if you like 450-6789218, or email realicat(at)yahoo.com and I`ll get back to you.

Cheers

Alison

Thanks for the phone call Andy - great to talk to you!

Okay, here`s the question: If I arrange a Drinks Evening somewhere(?) downtown, how may people will be game to show up and meet other South African "transplants"?

I used to live in Hong Kong and in Jakarta and we did this once a month on a Thursday night. I`ll make all the arrangements if there is any interest...... Let`s aim for the last Thursday of October (28th) - now let me know who would be likely to be there...

Actually been here for only 1 year now. Spent the lasy 6.5 years in prairieland Saskatoon...the Kimberley of Canada.

I am all for the once a month deal, and the 28th October sounds great.

Het julle geweet dat Frans is n moelike taal om to leer...hopelik eendag sal ek drietalig wees, maar op die omblik is dit moelik om my afrikaans te oefen...and that coming from an 'ol Tuks 'engelsman'.

Hi All South Africans in Montreal

I am afraid that I wont be able to join your 28th October event as I am moving to Calgary on the 25th October.

None the less I hope you do get together, have fun and support each other here in the French province

Hi All

Seems there are quite a few people interested in getting together next Thursday (28 October). How about Sherlock`s at 1010 St Catherine Street (just off the corner at Peel Street)? From 5:30ish onwards - I know some people are working, just get there when you can.

Let me know if anyone is violently opposed to the venue...

So long

Alison

Hi everyone,

To answer Gareths question, I am not near McGill...I am in Mont Royal walking distance to UdeM.

And that is excellent Alison, Sherlock is a good venue...never been there though but any place that serves cold beer gets the ok from me, but I may be a little late, around 6:30 on THursday Oct 28th.

I sincerely hope many of you can make it, this sounds like a recipe for a relaxing get together.

A thousand apologies to all, but we need to change the venue for Thursday`s get-together due to the fact that Sherlock`s no longer exists!!! We will now be at McLean`s Pub, 1210 Peel Street (just south of St. Catherine St, opposite Dorchester Square). Go upstairs to the pool room, and look for the SA flag (Note: It`s only a small flag.)

Please contact anyone you know who may not read this before Thursday. Hope to see lots of you there...

I knew there had to be some reason why I haven't been at Sherlocks.

I'll be at McCleans then....around 6:30 then.

Hope to see as many of us there.

Hi All,

That was a great evening last night! We should do that again.

If anyone is interested, the springboks will be in the UK next month. We can get together for a game if you like.

Hi,

I am sorry I missed the evening last night. I am a bit far away. I am going to go to Montréal on the 17th November for the day at the Casino, and I would like to meet some South Africans if it is possible to meet over there. We can arrange for a time and at the door that comes in from the Metro. I will be there from about 11h00 to 19h00. I am going with a bus from Montmagny.

Hi Andy

A rugby game sounds lekker. Do you want to meet at a pub that will show a game or at someone's house. I know that Cage aux Sports on Rene Levesque (near Guy) has lots of TV's, so at least should have rugby. Its also pretty central for everyone (even for us folks from the South Shore).

Calling all rugby fans!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andy and myself are planning to watch the Boks and England not this saturday but next

I believe it begins at around 9:30am, pretty early but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see english fans pay 10 bucks to see their team get hammered.

I beleive for now we will be at champs sports bar on st laurent, but that is not a permant place, Andy and I will be there and whoever wants to join may do so. Dave I hope you can join us.

Until then

cheers

gareth
