Timely Tips

"Put your money to work" sessions are coming up next week for Suncor employees. It's free at the Merit hotel 8200 Franklin av. Sept 22 and Sept 27/28 at 7pm. I have found these sessions valuable. Many people attend every year because there are so many aspects about investment and savings that affect them. Saving regularly via company deductions and investing in market tools or stock is good financial advice.

They also answer your questions about money matters. How to manage your benefits is a complicated issue - but help is available online via web workshop (log on to fidelity.ca/netbenefits)or live at the investment sessions.

SERA events (Suncor Employee Recreation Association)

They are available via the company website and news buletins.

The SERA organised trips are really good value for money.

One has to book them timeously when booking opens though.

One that I have found valuable was the Vista Ridge ski passes.

The ski slope is close to town and the cost for SERA members for seasons tickets for families are greatly reduced. The advantage is that one ski's more often and for shorter periods as it suits you.

When you buy tickets as you go, the tendency is to ski all day long to get the full benefit of the ticket.

Season ticket holders often just ski for an hour or two and then go and do other things.

The other advantage is that you get skiing quick. When you park, its on with the ski's and down the hill you go. No need to stop at the ticket booth or ski rental. (oh, you should buy your own ski's of course)
