Im having some problems with my other comp.

When i start it only the background appears. Not even the start menu shows up.

I would like to know is there anyway that i can fix it without bringing it to a store.

Any help will be appreciated

Of course there is, if you are prepared to spend the time and effort required (either you or someone else willing and able to help).

There are lots of tests available for free download from the web, to find out (more or less) what is the problem,

or you could just go ahead and try to reinstall the OS, with or without saving the data already on your hard drive.

The first question you need to answer may be: Do you need to recover data from the faulty PC, or not?

Hi, try this

Idea 1

when switching on your pc, start pressing "F8" button, continually

when the screen appears,

select "last known good configuration"

then select your OS usually "enter" works

or if unsuccesful try #2 "safe mode" and collect your information, then re install OS

Idea 2 using Microsoft

if you are lucky and have the original Microsoft CD, boot from it and when running through the menus look for install OS and then eventually before formatting drive a "r" - to reinstall windows without formatting appears, this will replace your OS without damage to your documents. this is however if you are lucky and have the correct version and cd
