Charles 0 Posted November 2, 2005 I am told that there are over 3000 different beers in Canada. Many of them made at microbreweries.I was at Creemore Springs and popped into the local microbrewery there, had a tour and a taste (and bought a few souvenirs) and took this photo.Lets see how many microbreweries (or if you really want to Major breweries ) we can add to the list. dieulefit 3 Posted November 2, 2005 If you happen to be in Port Credit, (Mississauga and near the Lake Ontario), do visit The Old Credit Brewery - the owner there is passionate about his brewery and will take you on tour and let you have a taste. It is a great beer and a good thing we do not live there anymore.......... .

Charles 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Purely in the interests of research you understand, and having a day off today, I found myself out in Guelph so I popped into the following Microbreweries and then Sleemans (which is rapidly becoming a macro)Wellington BreweryF&M BreweryThe owner (I think) was a very knowledgeable and chatty fellow and we had a good natter about a lot of things ....not the least of which was that SAB was making a bid for Sleemans!!! Sleemans I found Sleeman to be far too "corporate" for my liking. The beer is good but they were totally disinterested in me other than what I would buy from their store. Gautenger 0 Posted November 3, 2005 Keep up the good research Charles, any relation to the Glass family? The Wellington Brewery have a very attractive building.
dieulefit 3 Posted November 4, 2005 Well Charles, that goes to show - it is the attention to detail and interest in people walking through your doors that makes the difference, is it not? THAT is what you get in micro-breweries and their owners - personable and friendly and they WANT you to drink and love their beer and that is now NOT that I drink beer....... yuk, I do NOT drink beer at ALL, but hubby does (actually, he LOVES a good beer, or two or...... okay, enough). He will always order the beer on the menu that he does not know and beers from Eastern Europe is something he started to absolutely appreciate and love - try beers from Slovenia, according to my husband, nothing compares! I like a good wine, man do not let me start on a good red........ . Do NOT give me a bottle of your home brew stuff - I will not even cook with it - my children knows - "Mom will clean the drains with it"........ TERRIBLE. I will GLADLY send a bottle of wine back if it has the wrong nose or taste. What did I tell you...... do not let me start. Okay, back to BEER! Sorry........... . Charles 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Oddly enough I prefer a good red wine myself but I will admit that an ice cold beer goes down well on occasion.I also miss the toast that everyone gave me in every pub I went into in S.A. I have just opened a bottle of Wellington Breweries Trailhead Lager. This apparently won a Gold Medal. It seems a bit heavy and hoppish. Smooth though. But a bitter after taste in the throat. Hmmm maybe not bitter but it leaves a taste in the throat of some sort.
