Premium Wines from the South Hemisphere

7:00 - 9:00 pm, Listel Hotel,

1300 Robson Street, Vancouver

Guest Speaker: Ms. Mireille Sauvé,

Wine Editor for Flavours Magazine

$40.00 per member.

$47.00 per guest (includes wines and appetizers).

We welcome you to kick off the new year in style with a tasting of premium wines. Statistics show that when considering wine for a special occasion, more often than not, France, Italy or California comes to mind before Argentina, New Zealand or Chile. After tonight's tasting, you will see how proud you can be to serve a southern hemisphere wine! Tonight in this special tasting, we showcase the diverse brilliance of South World wine.

Wineries like Boekenhoutskloof, Herzog and Catena should roll off your tongue with ease. Did you know that Meerlust is arguably the most famous and celebrated estate in all of South Africa? Come try some benchmark wines from benchmark wineries in the southern hemisphere. Don't hesitate because this tasting will sell out fast.

Our speaker will be Mireille Sauvé, past Marketing and Promotions Officer for the Australian Wine Bureau Canada, and currently Wine Editor for Flavours Magazine. She spoke at our "Beyond Aussie Chardonnay and Shiraz" wine tasting last year with great appreciation by our members with her wine knowledge.

The wines we will be tasting:

- Reception: Pelorus 1999 Brut

- 2003 Mills Reef Reserve Gewurztraminer (New Zealand)

- 1997 Catena Alta Los Altos Chardonnay (Argentina)

- 2002 Herzog Pinot Noir (New Zealand)

- 1998 Los Vascos Grand Reserve (Chile)

- 2001 Boekenhoutskloof Syrah (South Africa)

- 2002 D'Arenberg Laughing Magpie (Australia)

- 1999 Meerlust Rubicon (South Africa)

- 2001 Montes Folly (Chile)

- 2001 Langmeil "Fifth Wave" Grenache (Australia)
