good evening

I have a job offer as a machinist for a engineering company and need to make sure which test to take, should I take the academic or training test. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

My understanding is that the academic IELTS is for those who wish to pursue studies -- typically at a university or so. Most of us who got in on EE don't take the academic one for this reason. I'm not sure if WP visas require something different.

Cheerio!

If going through Express Entry, then the General Training option for IELTS is the one to take.

If you are applying for a work permit, I don’t believe a language test is required at the moment to apply. I couldn’t find a form where the language test was noted.

Good luck!

Good luck!

Most of the IELTS is pretty straightforward to do well in but the writing is notoriously hard to get a good mark in, I highly recommend you look at examples and do a few practice tests before going for the test.
