Did anyone apply through the PNP route on its own, without the express entry system? Was it successful and what did your time-frame look like?

The PNP route is a separate application.

However, once you get PNP, a new application will need to go through the Express Entry system.

The only difference is that when you have the PNP, you will have the necessary points to get you through the Express Entry draw.

I'll leave the others to comment about their PNP applications and timeframes.

We have enough points (estimated) for EE, but they are low- only 412. My husband is Afrikaans, and his English is good but I put him in the 6.5-7 mark for ielts scores. My friend went the PNP route, so I'm considering this for a starting point as opposed to straight EE. We want to book our ielts for next month

We did Express Entry first Boerbok because you need it anyway with PNP, then when our CRD points were so low we did New Brunswick PNP. ;) You use the same documents for both applications.
