PR application taking longer than six months

Recommended Posts

Kitcat

Hi guys, I'd just like to know if anyone here has waited six months or longer for their PR application to be approved. Our AOR is 4 April. We had an odd inquiry from the CIC about our marriage certificate in May and then moved to IP2 around the end of June. Since then we've heard nothing, and we're obviously feeling rather anxious - especially as we've seen quite a few PPRs coming in for June/July applicants on this forum recently, and this wait and the unknown is quite stressful. We ordered GCMS notes this week, so hopefully that should shed some light, but I'd love to hear the experiences of others who may have had a similar timeline and waited around or longer than six months to hear anything.

@KitKatN,It sad that they haven't finalize your application after 6 months.

My application took 12 months and 5 days before I receive PPR.We  only passed medicals after 9 months and half, then I went for interview in April 2018 where I submitted updated proof of funds.

Up to now,CIC has never explained why my application took so long but I am convinced that u will get your PPR soon.

@ KitKat, sorry to hear you are still waiting. But this should be the month if you have applied in April? May be in the next 2 weeks you will get some kind of feed back. I am a July applicant and it feels like eternity, although I know I am only half way... Pretty much a patience testing experience. I pray that you get an update soonest. Hang in there :)

Submitted PR last night. Now the long wait, I guess -- seems things are going really slow at this point...

Hope all those who entered earlier get answers soon.

Hey @Kitcat I completely understand your pain.. WE are waiting for almost 4 months now and already anxious. I think it was a good decision to order GCMS notes. I am sure that will shed light. However, there is no guarantee to what time it will take to finish the processing of a PR application from what I understand after speaking twice to the consultants in the IRCC Call centre. They don't even bother if the profile's AOR date is less than 6 months old. Now that yo =u are over this mark I would suggest in the meanwhile calling the IRCC Call centre.

Lets hope we all get our PR's soon :):)

Thanks, I phoned the CIC a couple months back but it wasn't a very productive phone call. The agent we're working through has raised a web enquiry, so we'll see if anyhting comes from that. It's super frustrating, but hopefully the wait will be over soon. Good luck to you too!

CIC responded to our web inquiry yesterday and just said that our application is still being processed....😑...and the wait continues.

Your profile must have been selected for Security Screening for some reason. This is a common cause for delays in PR applications from whats there on the web.

Hopefully you get your golden email soon. its long due! :)

Yes, that's what we suspect. My husband has an extensive travel history to the Middle East for his work and I previously worked for a security risk consultancy, so we think that this is something they have been looking at. Can't think of any other reasons for the delay.

Our GCMS notes say a review is required of our eligibility but there is nothing in the notes to indicate what exactly they need to review as they appear to have awarded us all the points we claimed. When our agent spoke to the CIC they said that our background checks are complete and cleared, so we’re really not sure what to make of it all, it’s like our application is just sitting there gathering dust.

Im with @Kitcat, also been waiting 7.5 months, no indication as to why our eligibility is under review on the GCMS notes. My GCMS notes also indicate the last time someone even looked at our application was in June '18. Very frustrating as there is no way to prompt them to see whats going on.

And He TWITTED [SIC] "To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada"

AND WOOOOPPPPIIIIEEEE ....  THEY DID COME - 50 000 and counting..... And the RCMP welcomed them at the illegal border at the end of a dozy street in a once quiet part of Quebec.

So while you poor law abiding, rule following, by the book paperwork people wait in torturous pain, the CIC is probably swamped by unknowns, dodgy paperwork and disappearing acts.

"They" (The Pan Party People-o-love) said it would have no effect on applications - but how can it not?? - There are only so many people and so many hours in a day.

Even in a perfect world where the budget balances itselfie, it's surely not possible for 50 000 new "applications" to have no effect on a busy system.

Where's Captain Hook when you need him?  (Did anyone tell Peter that those border crossing people are not the Lost Boys?)

@Kitcat  @TarrynLeitch

Oh my word, this is scaring me. I can't imagine how hard the wait must be with no idea when it will conclude.

Do you have complex applications?

Hey @Amy G, the wait has been pretty tough, especially when there are so many who applied long after us who are already in Canada now. We never thought our case was complicated - can’t think of anything other than my husband’s extensive travel history that could have caused the delay, but we also got a random question from the CIC about our marriage certificate about a month after we applied, so this could have pushed us back in the queue - other than that we really don’t know.

It’s certainly been a test of patience and faith, but I’m sure it will all be worth it and we have a great adventure ahead of us. Good luck with your application - really hope it’s a speedy processing time for you!

@Amy G, no our application is so straight forward. We have a score of 470 which is well above the average intake. The notes we ordered didn't explain why our application is being reviewed, they did however say in a random comment, that we have provided no bank account history, only a letter from our bank showing the average balance for the past 6 months. Its so confusing becuase no where does it say you should upload bank statements, it says a bank letter, which we sent. Others have uploaded their bank statements becuase it is so hard to get a bank letter, and they have been accepted.  I took the liberty of sending through our bank statements as soon as we received our notes. Who knows if they'll even look at them. I think the worst part of the wait is being completely in the dark. There is no one who you can contact and all your emails are replied with a computer generated generic response.

I really do wish you all the best of luck! 🍀 I know the wait will be worth it !

@TarrynLeitch@KitcatI do understand your frustration, our application only got approved after 12 months and 7 days.

But they never explained to me why it took them so much time.I ordered 4 GCMS notes, raised IRCC webforms and called IRCC more than 10 times abd they were just asking me to be patient.

We only passed our medical after 10 months and everyrhing was unleashed after the interview that I went at the Pretoria Visa Office.

I really hope hope that they will finalize your application soon and they will probably not tell you why it took them a "lifetime" to send your PPR.

Thanks for sharing, @Eric N. I remember following your posts around this time last year and I’m so glad things finally came together for you.

We form part of the "passed 6 months" group. Also waiting for more than 7 months now with 2 June AOR. Our notes require review of elegibility and I suspect it is about our proof of funds, but until a senior officer take some time to have a look at our file, there is nothing we can do. The most frustrating part is not being able to plan for the future because everyting is so uncertain.

Good luck @Kitcat and @TarrynLeitch, I hope we get some good news soon!

@TarrynLeitch Did your bank letter have one average balance for the 6 month period? Or the closing balance for each of the 6 months?

I am not sure the average balance is the be all end all. The financials I submitted weren't too close to what they requested (certainly no average balance signed off by FNB), but I made sure it was easy to see my financial state, and also, explained the crap out of it in my letter of explanation.
