Rugby withdrawals!!

Recommended Posts

Please can someone assist with my SA Rugby withdrawals!!  I need to find out how we can see Tri Nations (including Currie Cup) rugby on TV.  We reside in Vancouver, are currently with Telus and are subscribed to both SportsnetWorld & BEIN.  But throughout the last year hardly anything.  We can also surf the web on our main TV.  I have watched SA Rugby via You Tube, but they are all old games!  Any suggestions would be most welcome. Try Kodi app with the Phoenix add on, else if you have family in SA with a DSTv premium subscription you can stream on mobile devices through a SA VPN with their log in details.

On the internet you can use FilmOn (https://www.filmon.com/).  It gives you free access to many channels around the world, but most importantly for this discussion, you can see the UK Channels.  The only downside here is that you see it in their time.  You can pay a bit extra to record shows, but I have not used that yet.

We have a Roku, and you can put the FilmOn channel on there too.

you can watch Super Rugby on TSN Go. Here is their itinerary http://www.tsn.ca/rugby-on-tsn-and-tsn-go-1.433673 You need a cable subscription to them though to access TSN Go.

Andre, may I as a technically-challenged Omie ask for details on this? I tried this last year, and couldn't get it to work. I have the TSN channels as part of my Telus TV package - is that sufficient? Do I understand correctly that TSN Go is an app, i.e. only works on a smartphone and not on a pc? Do you then connect your phone to the TV to watch on larger screen? I could not get clear instructions on the TSN website. Dankie by voorbaat!

Thank's Hennie for your input.  I'll give it a go during Super Rugby matches if I don't come right with streaming from my family's DSTV subscription back in SA.

The rugby is carried by sky sports in the UK which is not on FilmOn. Once in a while you might lucky if one of the public BBC channels shows rugby (the BBC channels are carried by FilmOn)

Hi guys. TSN Go is available on android, Iphone and PC. Most likely also on android media streaming devices (but i don't know).

Here is a link from Bell explaining the service http://support.bell.ca/tv/channels/what-is-tsn-go-and-how-do-i-use-it#displayStep

And from TSN http://www.tsn.ca/tsn-ca-help-section-tsn-go-1.88961

Genadetjie Adelheidt! It took an hour-long support call with Telus, but I finally got the TSNGo working on my laptop, yee-haaa, bring on the rugby season!

The login using my Telus login was the problem, and it would not work on Firefox, so had to revert to Explorer (Aaarggh!!).

Thanks, @Andre1 ! Withdawal of both me and my son cured!

For me, what works (or mostly works) is to use Unlocator (yes, a paid service) along with a family member's DSTV online account. This is the best way to get higher quality streaming. It is a bit hit and miss but works 98% of the time. The free / pirate cricket streaming sites usually have ads or are unreliable etc.

The nice thing with this approach is that you don't only get Rugby or Cricket but ALL the channels - if you want to watch Carte Blanche for example, just choose MNET on now.dstv.com

Hi Gripen.  Thank you for the good advice, which I think is the most logical 1st route to go, as we have family in SA who are subscribed to DSTV.  What does my family in SA need to give me (passwords/ codes, etc) and and which DSTV subscription do they need to have in order for this to happen? Also will this cost them anything in order for me to use now.dstv.com.
