Ask MJ! She is in Mississauga......

And read this for your potential reasons...http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/429340/Ontario/272147/Settlement-patterns and here http://www.ontario.ca/government/about-ontario

Top 10 reasons to settle in Ontario / Toronto

1. It's prosperous, clean and safe

2. City services (subway, buses, garbage disposal, etc) work well and are as good as you'll get anywhere.

3. It's the third largest theatre centre in North America, with all the latest Broadway and London shows

4. It has a great waterfront and islands for summer water sports

5. It has great night life, clubs, pubs, restaurants, and the rest

6. It has professional sports teams in all the major leagues - Blue Jays (baseball), Raptors (basketball), Argonauts (Canadian football), Maple Leafs (ice hockey), Toronto FC (soccer)

7. It is close to ski resorts, Blue Mountain, Talisman, etc

8. It's a major financial centre (Bay Street) and commercial centre so there ae plenty of interesting well-paying jobs

9. It has a international airport with regular flights to Europe, the US, the Caribbean, and others

10. It is a cosmopolitan city with little,if any, problems between the different ethnic groups. Everyone seems happy to be there

Raquel

have you applied for jobs in Ontario? If so, you can reference these to show intent.

Better late than never. Apply like crazy, it doesn't matter that you've only started today, even if your profile is less than perfect. You only need to show intent. You can attached confirmations of applications to your submission.

Red my post #177....gave you some more reasons...

Racquel look at my point 8...

And more reasons...

1) Its in Canada
2) Crime is extremely low
3) Multicultural
4)Food- I can eat around the world in one day
5) Great business opportunities- the city of Toronto has done alright through the recession compared to our American competition, expect much investment from other countries in the future.
6) proximity to the states- close to Chicago and NYC
7) Compared to most of the country a decent transit system
8) Arts and Culture( more so than anywhere else in Canada)
9) Sports Teams, we have a lot of professional sports teams here
10) Shopping- if you can't find it here you can't find it.
11) Big modern city- Toronto is the only city in Canada IMHO that has a vibrant streetlife like many other cities around the world, there is always something going on here.
12) Friendly people- so I may get a thumb down for this from most Canadians because there is a complete misconception that Torontonians are rude, they are most certainly not and I can say this from experience as I have lived across this country. Torontonians tend to be very friendly just like most Canadians.
13) Live and Let Live- Nobody bugs me here, I can be myself and not be judged so much as other places because people here are used to diversity

Ummmmm really?

Your passport must have been valid for at least two years prior to submission of your nominee application. If your passport has not been valid for at least two years (i.e., the previous passport expired less than two years before the submission of the nominee application), then copies of all of the pages of your previous passport must also be included

My passport was issued 09 Sept 2013 - and I think I have destroyed my old one?! Advice please...

Im assuming thats only Principle applicant?

I would say a letter from home affairs but thats going to take a few weeks...
I got to keep mine when getting my new one as i think they are soo different now to what they were a few years ago but thankfully im not the principle applicant.

Sheesh Raquel, you have me their. I have no ideas    Maybe a police affidavit stating that your old one was destroyed?

Thanks AshB!

@ Holmes - yes principle applicant only... will have to provide an explanation that it was destroyed... I guess.

I concur with Holmes F, just get a police affidavit saying that the old one was destroyed when the new was issued. And, if you traveled a lot, venture an approximation of your travels. This is what they want to see in any event. I don't think it is material and therefore not fatal to your application.

It seems like a bank draft will be the way to go.

Will cost you between R200 and R800 rand depending on your bank.

Erm so what if your current passport is the only passport you have ever had and it's less than two years old?

But I suppose then you can't list previous international travel under your travel history.....

Ok guys, I haven't received a letter yet but just scanning through this thread....is this right?:

1) you apply to the PNP only when you get invited

2) lots of people get invited but Ontario will only select some of those who applied.

3) then in your application you need to motivate why you want teside in Ontario among other things.

4)when you submit you must pay 1500 CAD

5) if they decline your application you won't get that money back?

Have I got it right?

Also, do you still need the 15000 + CAD in your bank account when you are nominated?

your pretty much spot on there. You get a PNP letter of interest i think they call it. Basically a message in your myCIC saying that you have an invitation to Ontario PNP program.

The cap is 2700 but they are sending out way more applications than that. Once you get accepted and processed, then you get a EE invitation (sounds like its an immediate thing??)
If declined, the $1500 is gone and yes, you need to be able to show proof of funds basically during the entire process. They request it on your PNP application and will again on your EE application but AFAIK they can request an update at any time.

Sigh, so a bank draft will take a week to be issued :o :o :o

But making another plan. Apparently Bidvest bank can issue it immediately but then it has to be done with cash.

Just waiting on confirmation from them.

@Raquel, i agree with Ash. This is bigger than your current job. My wife has a really good relationship with her boss and said she needs half the day to sort out some personal things urgently.

Deal done :)

In typical S.A fashion!

Would you like to shame this bank that takes a week?
