Passport request....

Recommended Posts

DPR007

Hi guys,

So medicals are done and dusted, was delivered in London 28 March 2013.

The next step would be the passport request - hopefully.....

What I wanted to know is, once the CHC requests the passports does it mean that we have been approved?

Regards

Roelien

Hi Roelien

Nope, it doesn't mean you are approved. However, if you are approved, you will get an email to tell you that your visa is ready for collection.

If you are denied, they will tell you the reasons for denial.

Good luck

Hi

I believe if you are as far as the medicals and there are no unknown medical disasters, then you are probably about 99% approved.

As far as I know, they do not request passports unless you are approved, therefore, once you have a passport request, I believe you have been approved.

(Assuming your passports are 100% in order of course.)

Congrats, and good luck!

I would disagree with this. If the Canadian embassy has requested passports, then they will be inserting the visa into the passports. Why else would they request passports?

Yip, no need to request a passport if you don't want it in the first place. They will tell you before hand that they have denied you for some reason and send you the landing fees back (if you have paid it already).

@Wolverine Shoo, nearly had a heart attack. Was wondering why it would not mean you approved with passport request.

Thanks alot guys.

The landing fees are the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/fees.asp#rprf

2. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee, which will be requested by CIC at a later stage if your application is approved.

stop_sm.gifNote. We strongly recommend paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee along with your processing fees. By doing so, it will reduce the processing time of your application.

Right of Permanent Residence Fee Number of persons Amount per person Amount Due Principal applicant (Spouse/common-law partner) 1 x $ 490 $ 490 Total Payment:

Note: Dependent children are exempt from paying the Right of Permanent Residence fee.

Medical exam on 5 April (yay! one step closer) It's been 3.5 years for me so far, but only about 12 months since I applied via the MPNP.

  1. Anyone have any idea how long it takes from this point?
  2. Does anyone know how to go about getting registered as a panel physician? There are no lady doctors on the panel in Joburg or Pretoria (and no longer in CT), and my family GP is very interested.

Hey, Eager Beaver! So glad to hear this news! I haven't heard about your update in ages....

For your question 1:

Our medicals timeline which were done last year are as follows:

Medicals, Jan 6, 2012 (Had issues so it was not sent off, needed specialist report for hubby)

Specialist report received, Jan 18, 2012

Medicals sent off to London, Jan 20, 2012

Send email to CIC with tracking number, Jan 24, 2012 (and here I was still thinking it was gonna take another 3 months. Boy, how wrong I was!)

Passport request via email, Feb 6, 2012

I sent in the passports. Visas issued, Feb 20, 2012

@ Eager Beaver, cograts on the med requests. You can also have a look at my timelines which were also done last year.

If things are still the way they were last year, i anticipate 1 month to get your passport and visa back after you do your meds.

Good luck

Didnt' mean to.

There is just so much trauma with North amrican visas where you are coming from Africa.

But yeah, like everyone said, why request a passport if they dont need it.

@Wolverine Shoo, nearly had a heart attack. Was wondering why it would not mean you approved with passport request.

My medicals arrived in London last Thursday (11 April) and on Friday afternoon (19 April) I got an email to say my visa is ready and I can come to collect it!!!

I handed in my passport when I took the payment and they accepted it, so it saved me the trip of taking my passport.

I will collect tomorrow. Seems surreal and I think it will only sink in once I see the visa in my passport. WOW! It's finally happened.... 3.5 years of waiting has come to an end.

Thank you SO much to everyone for their encouragement, advice and support - this forum has been such a source of information!

Take care everyone!!

We didn't come across this at all on the website... :( Does anyone know how much longer the wait will be if we didn't pay both fees at the same time?

@Eager Beaver:

"Thanks also for the info to send the tracking number - I'll definitely do that!"

Where must we send the tracking number?

Thanks.
