Lisa, you are posting in the right spot. I will update by the end of the week. Congratulations.

Cathy, I agree, Einstein is a bit absent... we will phone him hopefully this week and let you know how he is doing. Last I heard he is studying for his Electrical qualification. Might be the reason for his absence! But still just a short note will be nice!

Just wondering ...

Has anyone who's already in Canada, on a temp WP (or ELMO), gone the PNP route?

If so, what have the results been?

Am trying to figure which is better ... PNP or Canadian Experience ...

Thanks!

Hi

We've been (happily) in Canada for 9 months now!

At the end of September we qualified to apply for PR through the Provincial Nomination Programme.

I submitted all our documents to them and they received it on the 14th of October.

They only let me know that they received everything on the 10th of December.

So now it's a waiting game till we get a letter from them so we can apply to CIC.

Sadly I hoped that we would be able to have applied by now, because our medicals are valid till February 2011. Doesn't look like it's gonna happen though!

Will keep everyone updated to give them an idea

Friends just got their PR - took 2 years to get a birth certificate for their son from SA, but their PR process with a work permit took 3 months in total!

We are in Alberta on a work permit. We arrived in May 2009, submitted the PNP application in Jan 2010, got approved by Alberta in March, medicals requested in September, and now waiting for final approval which we are hoping will be through by end of Jan 2011. If you are approved by the province then it is just a matter of waiting until the federal govt processes the application. It seems to take forever, but it is a matter of when, not if. Good luck with your application.

Hi

If you are in Canada on a work permit and apply under the PNP without going back to SA....do you still need police clearance or will you be exempt due to the fact that you had clearance when you came over?

I am not clear from your question on how long you have been in Canada and whether you do have a police clearance for SA that you previously applied for...

I arrived in Canada on a work permit (with a police clearance issued for the WP) and have been in Canada for 2 months.

You still need it as well as a Canadian police clearance

Submitted application on 7th of March 2011 - have not had an acknowledgement of receipt... I've only been waiting a couple of months and I'm already anxious. Feel a lot of respect for people who've been waiting for years!
