For 2006 and are there any changes on the horizon for 2007
Are kids under certain age exempt from the visa requirement, if a visa is required that is?

The answer is "YES", you need a travel visa. I do not know the kiddie requirements.

Does anyone use their EU passports to visit the States on a regular basis ?
If so, how do you find the treatment at the US border ?

Well, Smith007, as far as I know children do need visas to enter the States. You can visit
here as well as
here for closer information.

If your status is PR then you need a VALID passport from the country of nationality. IRRESPECTIVE OF AGE.
If you are PR then you will get a TEN year multiply entry visa for the states.
When you go over to the states for the first time you will be required to get a 'visitors card' at the border.
This costs another $6 US. This little card is valid for 6 months (my first one was only valid for 3 months last year ???).
HINT: When this card expires remove it from your passport. You do not want to get to the border with an expired visitors card in you passport. Believe me you will get a barage of questions and threats of being sent away thrown at you.
If you are in the Toronto area then you will apply for the visa at the consulate in University Ave (entrance is at the back in Simcoe street). There is a waiting period of about 8-12 weeks for appointments at the moment.
When you do come down for the 'interview', prepare yourself for a maximum of 3 hours. Do not bring any electronic devices with you (calculators, cell, remotes for garage doors.....etc).
I work across the street from the consulate so if you want to hook up for coffee or just want the quick chat, let me know.
