Media Program Manager

Organizational Overview
Pride Toronto is a not-for-profit organization that presents Pride Week, a ten-day long arts and cultural festival celebrating Toronto’s *LGBTTIQQ2S communities. The festival is produced by 16 year-round volunteer committees, each producing a specific aspect of the festival, and 7 full time staff who manage the organization and direct and support the activities of the committees.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Media Program Manager is responsible for all marketing and communications of the organization. This includes managing the corporate brand and identity, advertising sales and publicity, all online and print publications, and communications with the membership and the media.

Responsibilities:

Marketing

Advertising
- Design and copywriting of all Pride advertising
- Placement of Pride advertising with external publications
- Monitoring and record keeping of all advertising placed

Marketing support
- Design and printing of all promotional material
- Design and printing of Pride Guide and other official publications
- Licensing process for Pride merchandise

Communications
Website
- Content management and publishing
- Design, layout and functionality
- Online advertising sales
- Email newsletter and blog/s
- Social media
- Photo and Video store and the FTP site

Publicity
- Writing and editing of press releases
- Media mailing lists
- Press conferences (in conjunction with the Event Manager)
- Monitoring and record keeping of all publicity received
- Media accreditation for all events

General Management
- Corporate brand and usage
- Art Direction and Media committees
- Management of graphic designer
- Recruitment and management of paid and volunteer photographers, videographers and writers
- Manage Media budget

Working with partners
• Develop and maintain good working relationships and regular contact with all relevant media service providers and partners, including Tourism Toronto, Now magazine, CTV and CP24, Toronto Star, Proud FM, Classical Radio and Metro.

Managing Year Round Volunteer Committees
The Media Program Manager manages the activities of the following two year-round committees on a day to day basis: Art Direction and Media
• Develop a work plan for each committee, outlining their goals, tasks, responsibilities and timelines.
• With day to day support from the Volunteer Program Manager, the incumbent will manage the annual workplan to ensure that tasks are completed on time, and work with the rest of the staff to provide appropriate support, resources and direction to the committees in carrying out their work.
• Support the Volunteer Program Manager in selecting the appropriate volunteers to staff your committees, set the parameters for recruitment criteria and attend all committee selection meetings as required.
• As directed by the ED, oversee the budgets for each of the committees, and ensure that they are working within the approved parameters.
• Oversee all the committees’ activities during the festival year, ensuring the smooth running of all operations and projects.
• Attend monthly Pride Planning meetings for all Pride Toronto staff and volunteers.
• Hold regular meetings with his/her committees throughout the month as needed.

Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in media management, advertising placement, publicity and planning
• Ability to be detail oriented but with consistent reference to the ‘big picture’.
• Excellent planning, organizational and problem solving skills
• Experience and knowledge of design and printing processes, and online publishing
• Excellent people management skills, with demonstrated experience managing, coordinating and providing support to working teams.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
• Excellent mediation/mentoring, team building and negotiation skills
• Excellent organizational, prioritization and multitasking skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment
• Ability to work within a flexible schedule, including some evenings and week-ends
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently and as part of a small staff team.
• Experience and knowledge of Toronto’s LGBTTIQQ2S communities a strong asset
• Not-for profit experience an asset
• Creative, out of the box thinker, with strong project management skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Must enjoy working with people and managing multiple demands from a large team of volunteers

Position Type: Full time, 12 month contract with option of renewal

Compensation: $40,000-$45,000 per annum
